Start here if anything feels confusing. These guides walk through Strike from account setup to check-ins, messages, privacy, and safety.
Verify your student email, choose your school and major, then add classes.
Use the location dashboard to see campus spaces and start a study session.
Choose whether classmates can see you by major, classes, everyone, or nobody.
Use friends, messages, group requests, or safety reports when needed.
Step 1: Finish your student profile. Strike needs your student email, school, major, and classes before it can match you with the right campus network.
Step 2: Go to the Rooms page. This is where you see active study spaces and check into a room.
Step 3: Pick a session type. Collaborative sessions can make you visible to approved students based on your privacy settings. Solo sessions keep you private.
Step 4: When you leave, close or pause the session so your study time is recorded correctly.
Strike is built around verified study spaces. You check into a campus location, set what you are studying, and the app starts a timer for that room.
If geofencing is active, Strike checks whether you are inside the location bounds before allowing or continuing a session. If you leave the bounds, the app can pause the session and give you time to return.
For testing, simulated GPS should only move you when you intentionally use the simulator. If you ever see an unexpected room, refresh after the latest fixes and check that no old paused session is waiting to be closed.
Collaborative: Use this when you are open to classmates seeing that you are studying, messaging you, or requesting to join a group session. Your privacy setting still controls who is allowed to discover you.
Solo: Use this when you want the timer and analytics without being discoverable. Other students may still see anonymous room counts, but your name and topic should not be shown as a social match.
When in doubt, choose Solo for private focus and Collaborative when you want help, accountability, or a study group.
When you check into a room, the timer starts automatically. You can see its status in the header. You do not need to manually start a separate stopwatch.
Checking out ends the session, saves the duration, and updates analytics. Pausing is for leaving temporarily, such as stepping outside the building and coming back.
If the app warns that a session was paused, read the modal carefully. Closing the session permanently logs the time that was already recorded.
You can change study visibility in Settings. The options are None, Major, Major + Classes, and Everyone.
None hides you from classmate discovery. Major allows students in your major. Major + Classes allows students in your major or shared classes. Everyone allows broader campus discovery.
Friends are treated as trusted connections for social features, but Solo sessions still keep your active study details private.
Use Friends to send and accept requests. Friends can appear in your live dashboard when they are active or currently studying, depending on their session and privacy settings.
Use Messages for direct conversations. Opening a chat does not display read receipt language right now, so the app focuses on sending and receiving messages without showing read status.
For group sessions, students should request to join. This keeps collaborative spaces intentional instead of letting anyone silently jump into a group.
Open Settings from the bottom of the sidebar. Preferences controls theme, default session type, notifications, realtime updates, and visibility behavior.
The Academic page controls your student email, school, and major. If you switch schools, confirm the new school email so Strike can keep campus access tied to the correct school.
Class editing lives in Settings as well, so your matching can stay current when your schedule changes.
If there is immediate danger, contact campus security or emergency services first. Strike reports are for preserving context inside the app, not replacing emergency help.
Use Settings, then Safety Reports, to submit a report. Include the person, room, time, and what happened. Add a follow-up email if you want someone to contact you about it.
If the app itself seems wrong, such as the wrong room, wrong timer, or strange account state, refresh once and then report the exact screen and time so it can be investigated.
