Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 18, 2026
Welcome to STRIKE ("STRIKE", "we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected when you use the STRIKE academic workspace hub.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated while using STRIKE, including:
- Account details such as username, password credentials, major, and course list.
- Study session details such as room check-ins, checkout times, study topics, session type, and study duration.
- Campus location signals used to confirm whether you are near a supported study room.
- Friend requests, group study requests, messages, and other collaboration activity.
- Room feedback such as noise level, busyness, and optional comments.
- Basic usage analytics used to improve reliability, safety, and product quality.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to operate STRIKE, including to:
- Authenticate accounts and maintain secure sessions.
- Show live study room activity, occupancy, and relevant classmates or friends.
- Verify room check-ins using campus location information.
- Support friend requests, group study coordination, messaging, and notifications.
- Calculate study history, rankings, milestones, and analytics.
- Prevent misuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve the Service.
3. Location Information
STRIKE uses location-based checks, including background location while a study session is active, to confirm whether a user is near a supported study space before allowing check-in and to detect when a user has left a study space so a session can be paused. Location information is used for room access, session pause/resume behavior, and campus activity features. STRIKE only requests location while it is relevant to an active or attempted study session and should not be used for continuous personal tracking. Precise location coordinates are not shown to other users; only your resulting room check-in status and aggregate room occupancy counts are visible to others, consistent with your session type and visibility settings.
4. Messages and Social Features
Messages, friend requests, and group study requests may be stored so users can coordinate study sessions. Users are responsible for the content they send through STRIKE. STRIKE's verification confirms access to a supported school email address; it does not verify a user's real-world identity, current enrollment status, age, or intentions. See the Safety and Verification Limits section of our Terms of Service before meeting anyone in person through the app.
5. Safety Reports and Moderation
If you submit a safety or conduct report, we collect the report details, the reported user or content, and related account/session context needed to review it. Report content is shared only with STRIKE's safety/moderation reviewers and is not shared with the reported user or other students. We retain report records to support moderation decisions, appeals, and repeat-conduct review, even after an account is deleted, unless deletion is required by law.
6. Data Storage and Service Providers
STRIKE may use hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, analytics, and infrastructure providers to operate the Service. These providers process information only as needed to support STRIKE's functionality and reliability.
7. Data Retention
We keep account, session, message, and analytics records for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain study history, improve safety, or comply with applicable obligations. You may request deletion of your account or data using the contact information below.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including secure communication protocols, access controls, and password protection practices. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
9. Eligibility and Children's Privacy
STRIKE is intended for currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, if higher) with access to a supported school email address. STRIKE is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will take steps to close the account and delete the associated data.
10. Your Choices and Rights
You can choose what information to add to your profile, whether to join collaborative sessions, and whether to use messaging or friend features. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise these choices, request data deletion, or ask questions about your information using the contact details below.
